Youth Vision Board Workshop

With all the things going on with today’s society, I think it’s very important to have mentoring groups for the youth. Ucher Dent felt that way too. She is the founder of No More Shackles Mentoring Program. It is a Biblical based program, which I love. The program provides advocacy, guidance, support, encouragement through several mentoring programs to work through potential barriers which may impede a mentee’s positive productivity in the seven areas of life balance. The 7 areas of life balance that they focus on are social, spiritual, learning/personal development, vocational/career/business, financial, physical, and family. That is so great to me.

The vision board workshop that they hosted went very well. I took one of the girls from my church. The panel was great and gave the youth very good advice. The panel included the following:

Cyneta Hill, Founder of Graceful Home Aging.

Stephanie Tillman, Vice Presidentof Compliance and Assistant General Legal Counsel with  Flowers Foods Inc.

Charles McCloud, Thomas County Coroner candidate.

Carloyn Simmons, Director of the Thomas County Health Department

It was facilitated by Dr. Demetria Hill Cannady,  A Work in Progress LLC, LPC, PHD.

If you know a teen in the Thomasville area that could benefit from the No More Shackles Program or if you would like to be a mentor, you can contact them at nomoreshackles.emp@gmail.com.
